Frenchy Fern

On Sunday of our visit we hung out around the house for a good part of the day. We watched football mostly, but managed to take a break and head out to buy a Christmas tree. But before the day got started, Lil Man dazzled the In-Laws with his cooking skillz. He learned how to make french toast in cooking class and wanted to treat them when they visited. Here he is, the Lil Chef...

Every good chef should sample their offerings.

The french toast was a hit. Some people might think it's "girly" for a boy to cook. I think chicks dig it and he'll be a hit with the ladies when he grows up. His future wife will also thank me. ;)

As I mentioned before, we picked up a tree from OSH in the afternoon.

Hubbs making sure everything is good and tight before we drive away.

Ready to go!

Mom-In-Law and I ended up decorating it while the boys craned their necks around us to see the games on TV. I think the tree came out nice. At the very least it helped me get in to the Christmas spirit. We took a few pictures in front of the tree before they left us. I look wretched with no make-up and was still sick, but you get the idea. Warm fuzzies on the inside. :)

I truly am lucky to have such great In-Laws.

isn't it great to have wonderful ILs?

pretty tree!

nice job with li'l man's cooking lessons. i don't think it's girly in the least - i consider basic cooking skills to be just as important as knowing how to do laundry and balancing a checkbook!

I love my husband partly because he can cook :)

Is cooking class like the modern day version of home ec? I feel like we never made anything as cool as french toast. Just quesadillas. Tell Little Man there is nothing sexier than a man who can cook - but maybe wait a couple years before telling him.

ditto the others -- i think it's great that he is learning to cook! at least you can rest assured that he won't have to rely strictly on cup o noodles in college to survive ;)

Osh had the best trees this year. very nice pick!

love li'l man cooking! the bear's men's journal magazine publishes recipes and even had "5 cookbooks every man should own," so it seems it's cool for dudes to cook. and as weemo said, most great chefs are male. :)
