ET can kiss it

I'm pissed. I'm typing away on the computer and out of the corner of my ear I hear Entertainment Tonight talking about stars who've lost a ton of weight (no pun intended). Tori Spelling is trying to lose 40 lbs. of baby fat, Ricki Lake lost 138 lbs., Janet Jackson lost and kept off 60 lbs., and most people are familiar with Kirstie Alley's 75 lb. weight loss with Jenny Craig. Yay. Good on them. Go for what you want and be healthy.

Here's the good part. We come to Valerie Bertinelli's story of how she finally joined Jenny Craig. The commentary that fluffs the story line is going on in the background and the effin' guys says, "Valerie Bertinelli ballooned to a size 14....". All I could hear after that was the random sounds of the Peanuts school teachers. Did you really say "ballooned" to a size 14?? Son of a bitch. I read in an article that "The average woman is 5'4" tall, weighs 145 lbs. with a dress size of 11 to 14, has a 36-37" bust, is about 29" around the waist and close to 40" around the hips." And this rat bastard says Valerie "ballooned" to size 14.

It's no wonder people have a skewed concept of what is normal and what is not in terms of body image. If you wanna be a stick figure or be a skeletal fashion rack then that is your call. But if you wanna be "normal" and find peace in that, then what is wrong with that? I don't think it's right for people who read scripts and pour over how to illiterate, or make a tag line sound catchy, for a living to tote your normalcy as grossly overweight. Screw you ET for feeding the fallacy.

I'm going to go cool off. Maybe I'll go get fitted for a wicker basket and see if I can charge people per ride.....
