June 13th
Thursday night I was anxious and excited at the same time. Not quite Christmas morning anxious but there was definitely some happy energy in the air. My baby was going to have his Promotion Ceremony in the morning! There was a lot of packing to do to get us all ready for our respective trips too so that was definitely on my mind. I tried to focus on the positive of things to come, but I have to admit that I got grumpy and snippy with Hubbs during the chaos of preparation that night. Hey, I’m not perfect. *shrug* I got it all done, including finishing that scrapbook for NY Bride, and finally rolled into to bed around 2 a.m.
Friday morning came and we were up. Time to go! Run, run, run. We got our tired asses out of bed and got through the process of getting ready and taking Lil Man to school. Even during the rush my boys stopped and posed for pictures. So handsome!

My Mom graciously arrived at the school early to save us a spot at the ceremony. Or so I thought. Unfortunately, she sat in the car saving us a parking spot instead of a seat at the ceremony. :/ That meant seats in the sun for us. Poo.
The ceremony was cute but much longer than it needed to be. Too.many.speakers. Please people, its 47609776 degrees outside at 9:00 in the morning—we can do without the 12 speakers. Thanks. As for pictures, we didn’t get that many. Lil Man is, well, little compared to most of his class mates so it was hard to see him all the way in the front. Not to mention the fact that the throng of parents stuffed to the front of every available space that could remotely provide a decent picture made it impossible to photograph or video him properly. I should have worn my football pads and tackled a spot for myself. We managed to score a few shots here and there. These are when he's accepting his certificate of completion.

When the ceremony was over, and after he took pictures with a couple of his friends and teacher, we headed over Mimi’s CafĂ© for lunch.
We had a nice lunch with Nina, Lil G, Mr. Energy, my Mom, and, of course, Hubbs. He opened a couple of presents and was very happy to see some green for his trip to NC. After our brunch/lunch we said our goodbyes and we were off to the airport. Lil Man took this opportunity of down time in the car to take a nap. Lucky.
He woke up as we arrived to LAX and gave us our hugs goodbye. We checked in for our flight, handed over our luggage, and got through security with no problems. When it was time, we boarded the plane and settled in for the 5 ½ hour flight to JFK. Wheeee! We were on our way after a short delay on the runway and in the air. I had a couple of cocktails on board, compliments of NY Bride who provided drink tickets for the flight. She also sent us ear phones so we were able to watch TV on the flights too. So very nice of her to send us that stuff!
We landed at JFK on schedule and made our way to the curb to wait for our shuttle bus. It was really humid outside and we were tired. Those 15 minutes felt like an hour to me. It was around 12:30 a.m. before the blue van showed and we were packed in with the unfriendly driver. We arrived at the hotel, headed to our room, and were greeted by our friends who'd be our roommates for the next three nights.
We finally got to bed sometime between 2 and 3 in the morning after settling in and catching up with our friends. It didn’t feel that late because we were still on West Coast time, but I needed to get up around 6:15. That was going to be rough in the morning. Eeeee….

getting up early after a flight east is the worst.
li'l man looks great in green!
i totally get snippy with hubs when i'm running around trying to pack for a trip. :/ i'm fine once i'm on the plane, but until that point... not so fun.
how cute is lil man during his promotion! you must be a proud mom for sure!
i'm loving the pinky in the air while you're drinking your drink. ;)
Little man doesn't look so little next to Mr. Plaid Shirt. You should tell him he should next to that kid in every picture.
Cutie!
Congratulations to Lil' Man!
Traveling to the east coast is always rough that first night. It's only 3 hours, but man that makes a difference!
Lil' Man is too cute!
What an exciting day! Promotion and then NYC! How did you manage the excitement?
