Sleepover Celebration

This post is going to be filled with pictures. I figure photos are much more interesting than my words so you probably don't mind. :) Last Saturday night was Solo's 30th birthday party. She decided she wanted a night in with some of her nearest and dearest instead of an expensive night out on the town. Nina, Sweet, and I were up for the challenge and started getting to work on the Slumber Party plans as soon as she had decided that's what she wanted.

This is the sign that greeted you as you walked up to the front door of the house. Of course, the blanked out part was Solo's real name.

Here are a couple of the decorations and fun stuff. Not shown is another poster with "Solo's Bitches" written on it and pictures of the birthday girl along with guests who were attending the party. There were 4 different types of slumber party dolls (two are shown) that we used as part of the decorations.

Prize baskets. Lemme tell you, these things were awesome and had really good stuff inside. We also had pretty awesome goody bags for the guests to take home that were filled with beauty products, cute note pads, candy, and a CD of the songs we listened to during the night.

Candy bouquet centerpiece.

Some of the V.I.P.s ;) Birthday girl, Nina, and me!

Meet Angelia, our fortune teller at the party. Each girl got about 10 minutes to sit with her. Some girls were lucky enough to go more than once since other girls showed up late to the party. I'd never had my fortune read before so it was different and very interesting to me. Some of the girls didn't like what they heard. I mean they were visibly upset after their reading. Another girl had a secret she hadn't even shared with her sisters and Angelia called her out on it. Crazy. I think Angelia was a hit overall and I know the birthday girl liked having her there.

Wardrobe change! Several girls are not in the photo because they took too long to get dressed or showed up really late. There were 19 or 20 of us all together.

Fun slippers. That's me with the fuzzy blue on the right. :)

Fun pics. Please notice how well my hair ribbons match my pajama pants. Yes, I went there and I was extremely excited when I found the perfect ribbon...and when people noticed how perfectly the matched. ;)

Parties are about fun, but they are also about food. Seriously, what slumber party would be complete without all the birthday girl's favorite snacks? Some of what we had was artichoke and 7 layer dip, chips and dip, chocolate covered fruit, mac n cheese with bacon, pizza, and an ice cream sundae bar!

And, of course, cupcakes. Birthday girl's favorite.

We also had some games. The scavenger hunt-like game turned out to be hilarious. Each team had to dig through their overnight bags or find things around the house to win points. In this picture is a replay of what happened when Nina called for "A tampon or a pad" and everyone pulled their stuff out with lightning speed. You should have seen what happened when she called for "Something fake". I had no idea! Effing hilarious!

We also had a contest where each person voted for people to win a category. From left to right the winners for their categories: Pajamas I'd Wear When I was 5, Cutest Slippers, Sexiest Pajamas, Pajamas I'd Wear When I'm 80, and Cutest Pajamas. I won! I was really not expecting that, but I was so happy the effort I'd put into my outfit was noticed. :)

Nina put together a scrapbook as a gift for Solo. In the invitation we asked each guest to create their own scrapbook page so it could be included in the book. We also sent a little note to other family members that weren't going to be at the party. The book was filled with pictures of family and friends, personal notes, and whatever else each person decided to include. Nina did a lot of work to put the book together by helping people do their pages and supplying pictures to people who didn't have any to participate. It really paid off. Solo really loved it and teared up a couple of times while reading the personal notes written to her. I wish I'd had something like this for my birthday.

The fun continues with plenty of alcohol and a round of shots!

Ooooh...it burns!

Notice that the birthday girl was not taking a shot with us. By this point she had had plenty to drink and it was showing. Sexy, right? This picture was taken at 12:45 a.m.

This picture was taken at 1:15 a.m. and safely secured Solo as the winner of the I Fell Asleep First ribbon. She's in her nephew's bed. So awesome.

This is a picture of one of the sleeping areas the next morning. Everyone is lounging around, talking, and laughing about the night before.

We all got up to have coffee and breakfast together before people started leaving to go home. It was a really fun night and the birthday girl thanked us several times for helping to make it her best birthday ever. That made me feel really good because it means we accomplished our mission. We really wanted Solo to have a great time celebrating the big 3-0. Nina, Sweet, and I make a good team. :)

Oh, and let me just tell you that after all the clean up and getting home Sunday afternoon this old fogie took a nice long nap. I didn't get to bed until somewhere around 2:30 or 3 on Saturday and didn't really sleep much. Then we were up by 8:30 getting breakfast going. I know I hung in there, but damn was I tired!
