It's the second week of our friendly Biggest Loser Challenge and I'm a little tired. Getting up in the 5:00 hour is hard and doing that for 4 or 5 days in a row makes it harder. You know what else is hard? Not eating everything I want that sounds good to me. Like on Saturday when I went to a birthday party and resisted the BBQ ribs, potato salad, and cake. Then Sunday when I went to the mall to exchange a couple of birthday items and walked past Pinkberry without stopping. Or when I drove by the sandwich shop that has a fairly decent pastrami sandwich yesterday and wanted to go inside and get it. Then my mind drifted to Langer's sandwiches, creamy, cheesy pasta, and all the ice cream I could be making with my new toy and I swear my stomach cried out a little. I'm pretty sure I actually heard it, but I can't be positive.I am happy to report that my sacrifice and efforts have been worth it. I won the first leg of The Challenge with a 5 lb. loss in one week! Can you believe it?! Yippee!! I've never lost that much weight in one week before. Ever. Granted, that means I had a lot to lose in the first place and has something to do with my progress, but I am happy none the less. The other girls were right behind me at 4 lbs so it's a tight race. But I won so I'm really excited about that. We are all pretty competitive so it makes the winning that much sweeter. Hee hee.
It's a good start to my week, wouldn't you say? Tonight we'll exchange our small gifts and I'm making a dinner requested by Hubbs--steak and scallops. Sadly, thanks to my challenge and over active competitive streak, there will be no cake or champagne toast but I'm OK with that. The day is about being together more than that other stuff. Our plan is to go to dinner somewhere simple and hopefully catch a movie on Saturday night thanks to the generous babysitting skillz of my Mom. Simple celebration for a simple couple. Sounds good to me. :)
Happy Anniversary Bee!!! I love you and thanks for being the right guy to laugh with when life is good and we're feeling silly & also to cry with when the time is needed. You're amazing and I'm still trying to figure out how I got so lucky.
