Sushi Someday

I'm going to split up the weekend and start with Sunday. A little reverse and flip. :)

Sunday I woke up with a list of to-dos and the hope that the horrible accident from Friday night would not hinder my progress or plans. This did not turn out to be the case. The freeway was shut down in both directions and people were advised to add on two + hours to their normal commute time to accommodate. This meant I was going to be semi stuck in my own little area and not able to do the one big thing I'd been looking forward to all week. :( Sorry, Bean. Hopefully soon!

Since Sunday had to be reworked I decided to get some shopping done. Lil' Man had a "How To" speech due at school on Wednesday and needed some props so he could get a better grade. We also needed to get his Halloween costume. The groceries were seriously low too so that meant a trip to the grocery store. Hey, while I was out I could swing over to BevMo and check out that 5 cent wine sale finally too. Sweet.

I was finally ready to go and headed out with kid in tow. I was not prepared for the traffic that would meet me on the streets. Damn it! Everyone else in town was stuck too so getting from one place to the next took twice as long as it normally does. Fantastic. 4 1/2 hours later I made it back home with most of the things checked off my list.

Michael's--Bought too much stuff. Went in for styrofoam balls, clear string, and a hook. Came out with scrapbook paper, 3-D stickers, a Disneyland paper and sticker pack (for Lil' Man's birthday), a magna cartoon drawing book, and all of Lil' Man's project needs. By the way, he's making Martha Stewart's Glow Stick Spiders for his speech and demonstration. We watched the show over the weekend at his Nina's house and it stuck with him. I swear I did not put him up to it! Even though I love that he chose it. ;)

Party City--Bust. They did not have the Optimus Prime costume available. But they did manage to further confuse the "what do you want to be for Halloween" question for Lil' Man. We can now add Darth Vader and Storm Trooper to the list of possibles. :/

BevMo--Score. I went a little nuts at this store with the wine. I know nothing about wine so I walked around that place reading every freaking card description listed for the wines included in the 5 cent sale. Some of them twice. I figured it was safer to start with white and work my way into the reds. I left there with 8 bottles of wine-six white and two reds. There are only 4 different kinds of wine and two bottles of each so I didn't go too crazy. Hopefully Wilfred Wong has steered me in the right direction.

Albertsons--Score. I was able to pick up groceries for the week and get away with only spending $124. That is a good day for me. :) Bargain shopping, coupons, and club card rewards...gotta love it.

So how did we cap off the night after the shopping/errand extravaganza? With sushi. It's been a while since we've had sushi and I was pretty happy to finally get some. For a while, you may remember, that we would have sushi every Sunday...sort of a family dinner type thing. We called it Sushi Sunday. Well, we started adding up what our habit of fish and rolls was costing us and it very quickly became Sushi Someday. We ordered from our favorite place, Hubbs picked it up for us, and we had a nice dinner together. We even got Lil' Man to try albacore, spicy tuna, and unagi. He liked it! He's a boy after my own heart--crafts and sushi. ;)
