Weekend Wrap Up

We had a pretty busy 3 day weekend. I think that's part of why it went by so quickly. Saturday found us sleeping in a little (so nice!) and then getting dressed for more stuff to do. Seems like there is always stuff to do.

The day started off with a new hair cut for Lil Man. Or should I say shave?

That's right. Lil Man decided to try a new look. Bald. Hubbs started it off and I came in for some detail work. I think he likes it, but he's still trying it on for size.

We had promised Lil Man that we'd take him to go look at guitars and see about lessons. He'd been talking about wanting to learn ever since his music teacher at school had mentioned teaching them. The thing at school never worked out so we decided to see what we could come up with. We are always looking for something for Lil Man to do that interests him.

We decided to check out the store closest to our house. When we walked in we were lucky enough to run into the instructor himself. We talked to him for a few minutes, found out he also teaches History at Lil Man's soon-to-be Jr. High, and soon after we were signing him up for lessons. During our time at the store we also bought him an acoustic guitar to get him started. While we paid and took care of details, the instructor sat down with Lil Man in the store and taught him a couple things he could play at home until his lessons officially start in August. Lil Man was excited and all lit up. It was cool to see.

We left to take the guitar home and then started our trek to a friend's house for her birthday party. It was an hour long drive cut down to 50 minutes thanks to Hubbs' Nascar like driving skills. Holy balls he makes me nervous!

We were the first to arrive which gave us time for some hoops.

Before I put a whoopin' on Lil Man and Hubbs in the hoop game, I took a pic with the birthday girl. :)

They ordered the UFC fight and most people at the party went inside to watch. I hung out outside with a few friends to catch up and shoot the shit. I did go inside for the cake and singing. Of course. I snapped a picture of my boys watching the fight. Look at my baldies!

Being outside gave me some one on one time with the newest addition to our friend group. He's six weeks old and super cute.

This picture makes me think of the song "Bubbly Toes" by Jack Johnson. Baby feet are the best. The only feet I like. :)

We got home late, again. It was a good day though so the tired feeling we had was for a good reason. :)

Sunday I took Lil Man, X-Man, and LaLa (my sister's step-daughter, my step-niece) to see WALL E. Disney got my dollars again. The kids really liked it and I thought it was cute too. I liked the underlying messages presented and thought it was entertaining enough for a kid flick. That finished off my weekend run around. I went home, made dinner, and ended the night watching a movie with Hubbs. For what it's worth, Semi-Pro was weak. I wasn't expecting much so I wasn't disappointed but it pales in comparison to Will Ferrell's greats like Old School and Anchor Man. Just thought I'd put that out there. :)

He's growing up so fast! I feel like it was 7th grade when every guy I knew shaved his head!

The two baldies! Ha! I love it.

Good for Lil' Man for taking up guitar! That's really great that you are supporting him in that.

I haven't seen WALL E, but MIL did, and she wasn't happy about the fact that it showed the state of the earth being an inevitable occurrence, instead of motivating kids to think they can make a difference. Twatever.

taking up guitar was one of the best things my brother did. i regret not doing it when he did, as i bet mom wouldn't have minded 2 for 1 (or 2 for a discount) lessons.

li'l man has a good head for going bald. cute that they match.

i agree with you on semi-pro. real ho-hum movie. old school and talladega nights were so much better.

lol i kinda want to see WallE! And i LOVE how other girls have to go through the same thing I do with UFC matches taking up your saturday nights. blarf! Forrest Griffin kicked some ass though (believe me I'm embarrassed that I know about the sport)

Two baldies! We saw Wall-E over the weekend too. Totally cute. Learning the piano was one of the best things that happened to me in my childhood so I hope the lil man will enjoy his guitar lessons too :)
